Modern American Homosexuality

Homosexuality, Science, and Culture

Homosexuals have a complex standing in American culture. A 2007 Pew Study found that 49% of Americans believed society should accept homosexuals, while 41% said society should not be accepting. In such a diverse landscape of people, different areas of society exhibit a range of reactions to the homosexuality community ranging from embracing to rejection. (1)

The cultural standing of homosexuals in America is based on a variety of factors. These factors are part of a relationship that is a complex web of religious, social, and political factors that also involve American business and media. In addition, scientists are learning more information every year about the biological and psychological causes of homosexuality. This website will both view the multifaceted relationship between American culture and homosexuality and examine what current scientific knowledge can tell us about homosexuality. Thus, we will gain a better understanding of modern American homosexuality.
